      I Description
      This signal conditioner is a four-channel analog
      input module with four discrete outputs. It filters
      and linearizes thermocouple inputs while provid-
      ing isolation between input, output, power, and
      network circuits. Cold junction compensation
      and upscale/downscale sensor break detection
      are standard. AC and DC power sources are sup-
      ported with nonpolarized, diode-coupled termi-
      nals.
      The programmable inputs accommodate eight
      thermocouple types plus wide-range millivolt
      signals. Flexible discrete outputs operate as
      alarms or on/off controllers. As limit alarms, each
      discrete output can be configured with high
      and/or low setpoints exclusively tied to an analog
      input channel. Alarm trips function without host
      communication enabling low-cost stand-alone
      alarms as well as local backup for the primary
      control system. Otherwise, on/off control is
      based on commands issued by the host system.
      Combining flexible transmitter functions, mixed
      signal I/O, alarm support, and a network inter-
      face in a single package, makes this instrument
      extremely powerful. Multi-channel design adds
      cost-efficiency and allows high-density mounting.
      Plus, safe, rugged construction makes these
      modules reliable for use in both control room
      and distributed field I/O applications. Custom
      module configurations are also possible (consult
      factory for details).

      I Description
      This signal conditioner is a two-channel analog
      input module with discrete outputs and Modbus
      communication. It conditions periodic or pulse
      waveform inputs and provides solid-state relays
      for limit alarms or ON/OFF control.
      Versatile inputs accommodate many applications
      using TTL, magnetic pickups, proximity sensors,
      or a variety of switches (high/low-side transistor,
      dry contact, open drain, open collector). Bipolar
      and unipolar waveforms are supported with a
      selectable input bias that accepts both zero and
      non-zero crossing signals. Voltage threshold and
      relative hysteresis are also user selectable.
      Inputs may also function as event counters with
      separate microcontrollers for each channel. The
      module counts pulses on the positive or negative
      edge. It can wrap around to zero for continuous
      counting, latch at a programmed count value
      (setpoint), or automatically reset itself to zero
      after reaching a setpoint value. Software controls
      enable remote resets. A variety of filters help
      remove noise, jitter, and other mechanical effects
      to prevent false counts.
      The discrete outputs can operate as independent
      alarms or provide on/off control regulated by the
      host system. As limit alarms, each output can be
      set for high and/or low setpoints exclusively tied
      to an analog input. These low cost modules are
      ideal for standalone alarms as well as for local
      backup of the primary control system.

      and/or output channels. Isolation separates the
      I/O, power, and network circuits. Network
      communication adheres to the industry-standard
      RS-485 Modbus RTU protocol. Both AC and DC
      power sources are supported with wide range,
      nonpolarized, diode-coupled terminals.
      The open-drain outputs are intended for current-
      sinking or low-side switching applications. The
      buffered inputs are active-low. These models are
      the complement of the 904, 905, and 906 units
      which have open-source, high-side output
      switches and active-high inputs. Socketed pull-up
      resistors are easily removed or exchanged to sat-
      isfy your application requirements.
      The 903MB model has twelve input/output
      points that may be used as inputs or outputs on
      a bit-by-bit basis. Outputs may be read back to
      verify output settings.
      Combining flexible I/O types, wide I/O ranges,
      and a network interface in a single package,
      makes this instrument extremely powerful.
      Multi-channel design adds cost-efficiency and
      allows high-density mounting. Plus, safe, rugged
      construction makes these modules reliable for
      use in both control room and distributed field I/O

      Acromag’s RS-485 network repeater device
      allows users to take full advantage of the RS-485
      standard’s extended communication distances
      and multi-dropping capabilities. In addition,
      these devices offer field selectable End-of-Line
      Network (EOLN) terminations on both the A and
      B networks.
      Operation is transparent to all devices and
      no handshaking is required. Up to thirty-two
      RS-485 devices can be driven. Network repeaters
      are ready to mount on any base plate. Or, for
      a harsh environment, it can be installed in a
      NEMA enclosure of your choice. No enclosure
      is necessary for use in a laboratory or office.
      Installation requires mounting, connecting power
      and cables, and setting the baud rate.

      Operation
      Model 4683-TTM-xF network repeaters
      isolate and boost RS-485 signals allowing
      communication signals to travel another 4000 ft.
      Each repeater permits the addition of another 32
      unit load to a network.
      The repeater has two RS-485 “sides” known as
      the A and B sides. The A side
      typically connects to the network towards the
      host and the B side connects to the extended
      network. Functionally, the A and B sides are
      equivalent.
      Repeaters receive AC power through a 3-screw
      terminal strip. Transient signal protection is
      provided on both RS-485 sides.
      When both RS-485 lines are idle, each side is
      in receive mode. When a ‘1’ to ‘0’ transition is
      detected (signifying a start bit) on either side,
      the opposite side’s transmitter is enabled. The
      transmitter stays enabled for one character’s time
      (based on the baud rate switch setting). The
      received character is then passed through.

      Acromag’s BusWorks 900PB series is a
      high-performance line of network-ready
      analog and discrete I/O modules. They
      feature universal input/output ranges and
      an inligent microcontroller to provide
      extreme flexibility and powerful monitor-
      ing and control capabilities. Select from a
      variety of analog and discrete I/O models
      to meet your application requirements.
      Each module provides a direct network
      interface for your I/O signals. Unlike
      “block I/O” devices that combine large,
      expensive processor blocks with snap-on
      I/O terminal blocks, 900PB modules
      handle the network interface and I/O
      processing in one, compact multi-channel
      module. This space-saving approach is
      very cost-effective for systems that need

      These units receive DC current or voltage input
      signals, provide isolation, and output proportion-
      al DC current or voltage signals . With support for
      universal DC I/O ranges, 610T series transmitters
      provide a solution for a wide variety of isolation
      and signal conversion tasks . The single-channel
      611T and dual-channel 612T are ideal for panel
      shops and end-users who require a high-density
      signal conditioner that can accomodate a broad
      range of instrumentation applications .
      Installation is fast and simple with Acromag’s
      built-in auto-configuration feature . Using your
      standard calibrator, the 610T’s internal microcon-
      troller automatically senses the input source type
      (voltage or current) and selects the optimum per-
      formance range for your zero and full-scale input
      values . To adjust your output values, simply push
      the up or down buttons on the front panel until
      you read the desired output signal on your meter .
      Both models provide high-voltage isolation
      between the input, output and power (3-way) .
      On dual channel units, each channel operates
      independently, with inputs isolated from each
      other, to prevent interaction between channels .
      For easy troubleshooting, each channel has diag-
      nostic LEDs to identify input over/under range
      conditions . An additional status LED indicates the
      unit is operating properly or that the front panel
      pushbutton lockout feature has been invoked .

      These units receive 4-20mA process current
      inputs and provide isolated 4-20mA output
      signals . Each channel operates independently and
      is isolated from the others to prevent
      interaction between channels . Galvanic isola-
      tion eliminates ground loops, reduces noise, and
      blocks transient signals .
      Units are shipped with factory calibration for
      quick installation . These isolators also automati-
      cally compensate for load resistance variations,
      so re-calibration is rarely necessary . However,
      adjustable zero and span trim pots are provided
      to ensure precise calibration for maintenance
      requirements and long term serviceability .
      These isolators generate a 24V input excitation
      supply suitable for powering one or two 2-wire
      transmitters . The supply is current limited at each
      output to prevent any excitation short from pull-
      ing down the internal power supply . The internal
      DC supply improves system performance by
      isolating loops on a single or dual channel basis .
      It saves space, complexity, and the expense of
      installing additional supplies to power your field
      loops .

      Description
      Models
      654T: Dual DC voltage input channels
      These units accept DC voltage input signals,
      provide isolation, and output proportional DC
      current signals . With two independent I/O
      channels in a slim package, the 654T is ideal for
      panel shops and end-users who require a high-
      density signal conditioner that can cover a broad
      range of measurement applications .
      Configuration is fast and easy . First, you select
      the input range for each channel with simple
      DIP switches . Then, you set your zero/full-scale
      output values using the noninteractive increase/
      decrease toggle switches on the front panel to
      modify the output signal until the desired output
      value is read on your voltmeter . The switches
      make it easy to calibrate a normal (proportional)
      or reverse-acting (inverse) response in seconds .
      After setting the desired calibration, you can
      engage the safety lockout feature on the DIP
      switch to prevent accidental changes and
      unauthorized tampering .
      The 654T provides two independent high-voltage
      input isolation circuits . Loss of power or a failure
      on one channel has no effect on the other . The
      second channel can be used as a built-in spare
      for reduced downtime should the first channel
      fail . The spare channel becomes operational by
      simply moving the wired terminal block over to
      the vacant channel .

      Description
      Models
      655T: Single TC/mV input channel
      656T: Dual TC/mV input channel
      These units accept universal thermocouple and
      millivolt input signals, provide isolation, and out-
      put proportional DC current signals . The output
      can also be linearized to the input sensor signal .
      Single-channel 655T and dual-channel 656T units
      are ideal for panel shops and end-users who
      require a high-density signal conditioner that can
      cover a broad range of temperature measure-
      ment applications .
      Configuration is fast and easy . First, you select
      the input type with a simple DIP switch . Then,
      you set your zero/full-scale output values using
      a toggle switch on the front panel to increase
      or decrease the signal until you read the desired
      output value on your voltmeter . The toggles
      make it easy to calibrate a normal (proportional)
      or reverse-acting (inverse) response in seconds .
      After setting the desired calibration, just press
      the mode/set toggle and your configuration set-
      tings are safely saved to nonvolatile memory .
      Both models provide high-voltage input isolation
      (output and power circuits share a common) . On
      dual channel units, each channel operates inde-
      pendently, with inputs isolated from each other,
      to prevent interaction between channels .
